A leading company in the chemical manufacturing, storage, and distribution industry is looking for an experienced Safety Manager to take ownership of safety performance across our operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equal parts coach, investigator, and strategist — someone who can walk the field, earn the trust of operators, and still hold their own in front of regulators and senior leadership.

What You'll Own

•       Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site safety programs, policies, and procedures across the facility

•       Champion a culture of proactive safety, where employees at every level feel empowered to identify hazards and speak up

•       Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing chemical handling, storage, and distribution

•       Own Process Safety Management (PSM) elements, including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and mechanical integrity programs

•       Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments; track findings through to resolution

•       Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, translating findings into meaningful corrective action and long-term prevention

•       Develop and deliver safety training programs, drills, and onboarding for all employees and contractors

•       Maintain and analyze safety performance metrics and KPIs; report trends and progress to plant and senior leadership

•       Manage emergency response planning, including fire prevention, spill response, and evacuation procedures

•       Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Human Resources to embed safety into daily decision-making

•       Oversee permitting, recordkeeping, and reporting required by regulatory agencies

•       Stay current on evolving safety and environmental regulations and proactively adjust programs to maintain compliance

•       Serve as the primary point of contact during regulatory inspections and audits

What You Bring

•       Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered

•       7+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in a chemical manufacturing, storage, or distribution environment

•       Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and PSM/RMP regulatory requirements

•       Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred

•       Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis

•       Proven ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of an organization, from the plant floor to the executive team

•       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical action

•       Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment

•       A genuine passion for protecting people and the belief that every incident is preventable

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires regular presence in the field, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and industrial conditions typical of a chemical manufacturing and storage environment. The Safety Manager must be able to walk, stand, climb, and use appropriate personal protective equipment for extended periods.
