Network Engineer

MAJORACCOUNTABILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assistinthemaintenance, building, programming, testing,and implementing the MCCNO’sfacility network/backbone to ensure proper function. Oversee the day- to- day operations of facility wired and wireless networks. Collaboratewith field staff to troubleshoot network issues as they arise. Recommend and work in conjunction with third party consultants for networking initiatives. Assistinmaintainingfull infrastructure as-builtdocumentationand modify as needed. Evaluate new network technologies and make recommendationsregardingintegration of these technologies into existing network. Monitor technology trends to ensure that services meet industry standards anddeterminemodifications and improvements where necessary. Assistin coordination ofall activitiesrelativeto short term andlong termnetworkplansas well asthe development and operation of theMCCNOinfrastructure and core. Perform troubleshooting by diagnosing and resolving complex network problems/failures;determineroot cause and mitigation/remediation efforts to avoid problem recurrence. Serve as thesubject matter expertfor all core network-related issues and outages, including day-to-day support and proactive maintenance of network and security. Interact with carriers and other third-party vendors as needed for remediation. Work withother staff, vendors, contractors, business partners, and other IT groupstoproblem-solve andcoordinatenetwork functionsof all departments to ensure that operating requirements of the MCCNOareaccomplishedin an efficient manner. Ensure connectivity to off-site storage and archives. Assistin coordinatingthe development and implementation of the disaster recovery plan. Support the developmentandimplementation ofstrategies tomaintainnetwork functions at alternate locationsin the event ofa disaster. Coordinate with other network personnel to ensure that network needs are considered for ancillary functions. Establish andmaintaineffective working relationships with diverse groups of people in high pressure situations with a goal of having the client become or continue as a repeat customer. Ability to create diagrams, policies, procedures, presentations, etc., as needed for day-to-day management as well as read blueprints/schematics, etc. as needed for planning/issue remediation Gather and analyze information skillfully,work through problems logically, attempt solutions independently, and think beyond the immediate need presented.
