The position of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Immunization Program (VPDIP) Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (IQIP) Coordinator serves as a pivotal resource for the greater Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Immunization Program (VPDIP) within the Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) division of the Tennessee Department of Health. This position supports the Vaccine Operations Team in supporting the Regional Immunization Representatives (RIRs) and carrying out all aspects of the federally funded vaccine programs. How You Make a Difference In This Role The VFC & IQIP Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program and the Vaccine‑Preventable Diseases and Immunization Program (VPDIP). This position provides oversight to the VFC and IQIP programs by supporting RIRs and VFC Providers and ensuring federal requirements are met. The Coordinator manages vaccine storage and handling quality processes, including prompt review and documentation of temperature excursions and vaccine storage‑unit changes. The Coordinator ensures providers follow VFC requirements, maintain appropriate vaccine management plans, and address issues that could impact vaccine viability. The role also involves ongoing engagement with program meetings, collaborative initiatives, and outbreak or emergency response activities. This position is designed for a detail‑oriented, proactive professional committed to strengthening public health outcomes statewide. In this role, you directly strengthen Tennessee’s immunization infrastructure by ensuring that vaccines are stored, handled, and managed correctly across VFC provider sites. Your work ensures the integrity of publicly funded vaccines, protects patients from invalid doses, and supports all VFC and VFA providers in meeting federal and state requirements. By quickly reviewing temperature excursion reports, communicating with providers, and initiating corrective actions, you help prevent vaccine loss and maintain program compliance. You also contribute to statewide vaccine‑preventable disease efforts by engaging in VPDIP initiatives, participating in emergency response activities, and continuously developing your professional expertise. Through these efforts, you make a meaningful impact on community health and the reliability of Tennessee’s immunization program. Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities include ensuring that VFC & IQIP site visits assigned to RIRs are completed and properly documented according to program guidelines. The Coordinator conducts annual supervisory visits for all RIRs in their assigned regions. This position manages temperature excursion communications, reviews REDCap survey notifications within required timeframes, documents findings, and coordinates follow‑up with providers. The Coordinator reviews vaccine storage unit specifications, assesses compliance with VFC storage and handling standards, and evaluates Routine and Emergency Vaccine Management Plans for new and re‑enrolling providers. The Coordinator will plan and conduct trainings as directed by leadership. Additional responsibilities include participating in VPDIP meetings and workgroups, contributing to program initiatives, completing required training, and assisting with emergency preparedness and outbreak response efforts. These duties work collectively to support program quality, provider readiness, and statewide vaccine safety.
