Director, Study Data Services (Hybrid)

Merck seeks a Director of Study Data Services to lead programming and reporting strategy across therapeutic areas, managing complex clinical studies and service provider partnerships. The role focuses on building scalable capabilities, driving automation and emerging technologies, and developing high-performing teams while ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute long-term programming, reporting, and data integration strategy across therapeutic areas
- Establish standards and frameworks ensuring scalability, consistency, and regulatory compliance
- Oversee complex multi-study programming and reporting delivery with accuracy and efficiency
- Champion automation initiatives and emerging technology adoption to enhance productivity and data integrity
- Build and develop high-performing teams through coaching, career planning, and performance management
Requirements
- Expert proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, R, SAS, SQL)
- Deep knowledge of enterprise data management, EDC platforms, and clinical operations systems
- Experience designing and managing cloud-based data pipelines (Azure, AWS, Databricks)
- Demonstrated success managing outsourced programming operations and global delivery partners
- Comprehensive understanding of FDA regulations, GxP/ICH guidelines, and clinical data governance
- Strategic leadership skills with ability to influence across functions and organizational levels
- Track record implementing risk-based digital data practices across multiple regions
