Banquet Captain

Overview Special Events Sales Director & Seasoned Hospitality Professional Responsibilities Welcome guests upon their arrival and assist them with their seating arrangements. Assist managers and organizers with planning the layout and logistics of events. Setup and manage Team Member shifts and timetables. Develop and provide Team Members with the necessary training, including guest service and serving etiquette. Manage the setup of events in coordination with the Director of Special Events. Run the floor and coordinate the food and drink service by liaising with the kitchen and service staff. Monitor and maintain inventory of linen, supplies, equipment, and furniture. Tend to guests' requests, questions, and complaints. Ensure that the venue and facilities remain neat and clean. Ensure that all applicable safety regulations are communicated and followed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a banquet captain or similar. Excellent ability to communicate in the English language, both written and verbal. Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage numerous team members. Great time management and multitasking abilities. Ability to provide an excellent level of customer service, even in stressful situations. Physically fit with good stamina for physical tasks such as moving and lifting furniture and standing and walking for long periods of time. Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, and on weekends and holidays. Attributes Impeccable work ethic and guest service skills. Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor. POS Literate, preferably TOAST POS. Strong knowledge of Service Techniques. Strong organizational skills required. Strong knowledge of office protocol. Knowledge of current PC software. Ability to learn and keep abreast of applicable programs and systems. Ability to perform essential functions without supervision. Flexibility in work schedule. Food and Beverage background, as well as Banquet department experience. Proactive approach to management. Well-developed interpersonal skills with the public and team members alike. Computer literate in numerous programs. Ability to learn and use new programs. Lifting & Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds. Ability to handle high levels of pressure and subsequent stress. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work at a computer and type for long periods of time.
