Job Posting: Part-Time Handyman / Maintenance for 9 Rental Homes
Location: Indian Head, MD 20640 (Charles County)
Position Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Flexible hours / as needed
Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and detail-oriented Part-Time Handyman to handle general maintenance, minor repairs, and odd jobs. Also assist with tenant move-ins and move-outs. This is an ideal position for a semi-retired contractor, maintenance technician, or experienced hobbyist looking for flexible, local work in the Indian Head area.
Core Responsibilities
· General Repairs: Fix minor drywall damage, repair sticking doors, replace cabinet hardware, and perform light carpentry tasks. Touch up paint.
· Basic Maintenance: Walk roofs, change air filters.
· Minor Plumbing & Electrical: Fix leaking faucets, clear simple drains, reset fixtures, and replace light bulbs or basic outlets.
· Safety & Upkeep: Visually inspect property areas to proactively identify and repair wear-and-tear safety issues.
· Tenants: Walk home prior to move-in to document any damage by tenant. Walk home when tenant moves out to document any damage beyond normal wear and tear.
Requirements & Qualifications
· Background Check: Must be willing to undergo and successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check.
· Experience: Proven experience in general residential or commercial maintenance/handyman work.
· Tools: Must possess and bring standard, basic personal tools required for everyday repairs.
· Transportation: Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle capable of transporting basic tools.
· Attributes: High reliability, punctuality, strong communication skills, and respect for the workspace.
· Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and comfortably bend or kneel for active tasks.
Preferred (But Not Required)
· Local residency in Charles County / Indian Head area for easy scheduling.
· Specialized skills in framing, painting, or tiling.
