Lead EEG Technician, Electroencephalography (Full-Time, Day Shift)

Job Summary: Performs standard and complex electroencephalographic (EEG) procedures using specialized equipment and evoked responses, under minimum direction. Measures and records electrical brain activity to locate abnormalities. Schedules patients and procedures. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise, and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team. Recommends/coordinates scheduling of work assignments, daily priorities and directing the work of staff. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related

experience: Preferred * Three years' technical experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: * Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred * Graduate of an AMA accredited EEG program or documented proficiency of EEG competency: Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications: * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Essential Functions: * Completes electroencephalograph and evoked response tests as requested by a physician to detect brain disorders or damage. Measures and records the electrical activity of brain waves via electrodes secured to the patient's scalp. * Gathers the patient's medical history. Explains testing procedures and prepares the patient for the procedure. * Monitors the patient's status and notes any abnormalities during testing. Reports the findings to the patient's doctor for further analysis after testing. * Calibrates and checks equipment on a weekly basis and orders necessary supplies. * Processes patient records, in adherence with established procedures. Models/mentors and trains staff on technical skills. Sets schedules and work priorities for staff. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
