Employment Type: Full-Time | Part-Time Options Available
Employer: EmpatSpeech (candidate is employed by EmpatSpeech, not the school)
Service Setting: Traditional K–12 School Campus (in-person, on-site)
Locations: Santa Fe, New Mexico, Springfield, MO, Multiple Cities, TX, Multiple Cities, California
Reports To: EmpatSpeech Clinical Supervisor / Director of Clinical Services
Licensing: Valid SLP license in the state of service (NM, CA, TX, or MO preferred)

About EmpatSpeechEmpatSpeech is a mission-driven speech-language services organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality, culturally responsive SLP services for students who need them most. We partner with schools to place trained, supported SLPs directly on campus, bringing our evidence-based curriculum, supervision model, and professional development infrastructure into the heart of each school community.
The OpportunityAs a School-Based SLP with EmpatSpeech, you will deliver speech-language services directly to students on a school campus, using EmpatSpeech's curriculum, assessment frameworks, and clinical tools. This is a unique embedded role: you are part of the school community every day, yet your clinical home is EmpatSpeech. You'll benefit from robust onboarding, ongoing coaching, and a collaborative team of SLPs, while making a tangible, daily difference for students.
What Makes This Role DistinctUnlike a district-employed SLP or an independent contractor, you will:
Be employed, trained, and clinically supervised by EmpatSpeech
Follow EmpatSpeech's curriculum, documentation standards, and service delivery models
Serve students within a school setting alongside school staff, educators, and administrators
Act as a professional bridge, representing EmpatSpeech's standards while building trust with school partners
Participate in EmpatSpeech professional development, peer consultation, and quality reviews
Clinical Service Delivery
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations using EmpatSpeech-approved assessment protocols
- Develop individualized treatment plans aligned to EmpatSpeech's curriculum framework and each student's IEP goals
- Deliver individual and small-group therapy sessions (in-person, on campus) with fidelity to EmpatSpeech's evidence-based approaches
- Implement culturally and linguistically responsive practices for diverse student populations
- Collect and analyze session data to monitor progress and adjust treatment accordingly
School Community Integration
- Build and maintain collaborative, professional relationships with teachers, special education coordinators, school psychologists, administrators, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, student support team meetings, and school-based collaboration as a representative of EmpatSpeech
- Communicate effectively with school staff about student progress while maintaining FERPA compliance and EmpatSpeech confidentiality standards
- Navigate situations where school expectations and EmpatSpeech clinical standards may differ — escalating to EmpatSpeech supervision when needed
- Serve as a visible, trusted presence in the school building
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all clinical documentation in EmpatSpeech's designated system within required timelines
- Maintain compliance with IDEA, state special education regulations, and EmpatSpeech quality standards
- Ensure all services are documented in accordance with IEP mandates and EmpatSpeech record-keeping protocols
- Participate in EmpatSpeech data reviews, outcome reporting, and quality improvement processes
Professional Development & Team Participation
- Attend all required EmpatSpeech training, onboarding modules, and continuing education sessions
Engage in regular supervision with EmpatSpeech Clinical Supervisor
- Contribute to peer consultation, team calls, and EmpatSpeech community of practice
- Pursue ongoing professional development in alignment with ASHA and EmpatSpeech standards
- Master's degree (MS or MA) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or CCC in active pursuit
- Current, valid SLP licensure (NM, CA, TX, or MO strongly preferred)
School-based or pediatric clinical experience (practicum or post-graduate)
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Commitment to culturally responsive, equity-centered practice
- 2+ years of school-based SLP experience post-graduation
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including ELL students
- Familiarity with IDEA, IEP processes, and special education law
- Bilingual or multilingual skills (Spanish strongly valued)
- Experience with third-party or contracted service delivery in educational settings
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Health, dental, and vision benefits
Paid time off and holidays
CEU reimbursement and ASHA dues support
Malpractice and professional liability coverage
Support & Development
Dedicated EmpatSpeech clinical supervisor
Structured onboarding and curriculum training
Regular peer consultation and team calls
Clear escalation pathways for school conflicts
Career growth within EmpatSpeech's growing network
