Recycling sorter

We are seeking a hardworking Material Handler / Processor to join our fast-paced recycling team! In this hands-on role, you will sort incoming scrap metals (copper, aluminum, brass) by grade, operate tools to prepare materials, assist customers with offloading, and maintain a clean, safe outdoor yard. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in all weather conditions, can lift up to 50 pounds, and ideally has experience in a scrap or industrial environment. Responsibilities

• Material Classification: Sort and separate incoming scrap metals (including copper, aluminum, and brass) by type, grade, and quality to guarantee accurate and efficient processing.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate specialized tools and machinery to cut, clean, and prepare raw scrap materials for downstream recycling processes.
• Customer Service & Support: Assist incoming customers with the professional and efficient offloading of materials, maintaining a positive and helpful demeanor.
• Yard Upkeep & Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free industrial yard by regularly sweeping, cleaning, and removing debris.
• Safety & Environmental Compliance: Strictly adhere to all health, safety, and environmental standards to ensure a secure working environment for staff and visitors.
• Quality Control: Utilize sharp visual acuity to quickly identify and differentiate between various metal types and alloys in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical Stamina & Agility: Comfortably perform demanding physical tasks, including bending, crouching, walking on uneven ground, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Weather Resilience: Adapt and work efficiently in a dynamic, outdoor industrial yard environment while exposed to changing weather conditions.

The essential functions of this role include:
