Job Title Intelligent Transportation Systems Maintenance Inspector – Transportation Management Center, Hauppauge, NY. Opportunity The Intelligent Transportation Systems Maintenance Inspector will conduct inspections of ITS field equipment to ensure technical specifications are maintained. This position is scheduled 7:00 am–3:30 pm. Responsibilities Inspection, supervision, and cooperation with NYSDOT INFORM Contractors. Enforce contract technical specifications of equipment, materials, and labor during field installations, repairs, and modifications by Field Maintenance Contractors. Read plans, implement, and enforce Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC). Prepare inspection reports including job descriptions, equipment used, MPT furnished, hours of work, travel time, and related details. Tow, deploy, and program portable variable message signs (PVMS), CCTV, and radar trailers using instructions manual and field training. Maintain INFORM’s equipment inventory across storage facilities; organize facilities, receive equipment and provide updates on equipment needs. Inspect field equipment and devices routinely to enforce maintenance contractor requirements. Coordinate yearly INFORM PVMS preventive maintenance inspections and repairs with the NYSDOT equipment maintenance shop in Central Islip. Be available “after normal working hours”, including weekends, for project emergencies such as equipment hits, PVMS deployments, special events, seasonal and holiday‑related activities, sports tournaments, and severe weather events. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct in adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Maintain a proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience inspecting field equipment, supervising electrical maintenance contractors, and preparing inspection reports. Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others in a team environment. Clear communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience in public, internal, and external relations, working well with internal, external, and partner groups and individuals. Able to respond to problem situations 24/7/365. Salary Expected Salary: $47,700 – $85,500. The range reflects the company’s good‑faith estimate for this position within Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
