Associate Attorney, Real Estate

DescriptionOur client, a well-established, full-service law practice serving clients throughout the Twin Cities, is looking to add an Associate Attorney to our Real Estate group. We're a mid-sized shop with a broad general practice base, and we're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career with us — we typically look for associates who stay with the firm for 3 to 8 years as they grow into more senior roles.Position details: Associates in this role are expected to meet an annual billable hour target of 1,500 hours.Core responsibilities will include:Preparing and negotiating purchase and sale agreements for real property transactionsDrafting closing documentation and managing the closing process for both buyers and sellersAnalyzing title commitments and survey materials, and preparing and resolving title objectionsReviewing and negotiating financing documents such as mortgages/deeds of trust, loan agreements, promissory notes, and guarantiesAdditional experience that would strengthen an application:Litigation experience tied to real estate matters — title disputes, landlord-tenant conflicts, boundary line disagreements, or Torrens proceedingsBackground negotiating and drafting commercial lease agreementsExperience preparing loan documentation and running loan closingsFamiliarity with construction-related contracts, including standard AIA documentsExposure to environmental due diligence work, such as Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessmentsRequirements3-8 years of transactional real estate experience, whether gained at a law firm, in an in-house legal department, or with a title company.
