Clinical SupportThe Clinical Support will assist in the delivery of excellent patient care management by performing routine clinical and administrative tasks to keep the office running efficiently.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesTaking medical histories and vital signsReconciliation of medication listsExplaining treatment procedures to patientsPreparing patients for examination (in-person and/or telehealth appointments)Assisting the physician during examsInstructing patients about medication and special dietsAuthorizing prescription refills as directedStock examination roomsMaintain instruments and prepare sterilization as requiredKeep inventory of medications and suppliesMaintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)Provide coverage for other MAs as neededOther duties as assigned; travel may be requiredFront Office DutiesUsing computer applicationsAnswering telephones, take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacyGreeting patients and scheduling appointmentsUpdating and scanning patient medical recordsCoding and filling out insurance formsArranging for hospital admissions and laboratory servicesHandling correspondenceCollection of copaysOther duties and tasks as assignedPay Range: $22.00 - $25.00/hourLocation: In personRequired QualificationsMinimum of 1 year of experience as a Front and Back Office Medical AssistantMedical Assistant CertificationProficiency using EHR software applicationsBilingual in English/SpanishExperience using EPICRequired SkillsExcellent verbal and written communicationAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and proceduresAbility to use good reasoning and judgement and react appropriately in emergency situationsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and coworkersOther considerations:Background check requiredTravel to other sites located within San Diego County may be requiredPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. In general, this position requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted; ability to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching and some sitting; ability to use full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift and move supplies. Must be able to safely ascend and descend stairs as a core part of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, when no elevator or lift is present.Work EnvironmentJob required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate personal protection measures is required for every healthcare provider in these positions.
