Tennis Instructor and Site Director, Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho

Position Title: RecTennis Instructors and Site Directors

Reports to: Regional Manager of Recreational Tennis

Location: Local parks, schools, and/or recreational centers in your area

Status: Part Time; Hourly; Non-Exempt; Seasonal; On-Call

Pay: $17.50–$22.50 per hour, depending on city and role

USTA PNW is looking for Instructors and Site Directors at our local parks and schools to help drive our mission on and off the court.

Key Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, safe, and fun learning environment for all participants.
• Communicate professionally with parents, partners, and community organizers.
• Implement program curriculum and provide ongoing instruction at program sites.
• Ensure equipment set-up and take-down for each session; guarantee equipment safety and storage, possibly using personal vehicles.
• Check attendance roll and confirm parent sign-off for each session.
• Remain at site until all participants have been picked up by authorized personnel.
• Perform marketing tasks, such as hanging flyers and attending events.
• Operate in outdoor and indoor sites that may experience extreme weather conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Site Director or Regional Manager.
• Support USTA PNW facilities and NetGeneration products to further the organization’s mission.
• Follow all USTA PNW procedures and protocols at all times.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Operate general tennis equipment and supplies.
• Move products and supplies up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Speak, hear, and respond to sounds and visual cues.
• Use hands, fingers, and arms for repetitive motions such as tossing balls and holding racquets.
• Meet basic requirements for transportation to and from the job site.

On and Off-Court Needs

• 99% On-Court
• 1% Off-Court (e.g., preparing daily lesson plans and activities)
• Subject to change with business needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Site Directors manage day‑to‑day flow but do not directly supervise Instructors.
• Instructors have no supervisory responsibilities over other staff.

Internal Relationships

• Instructors work primarily with the Site Director and the Regional Manager.
• Site Directors engage with the Regional Manager to problem‑solve and communicate issues.

External Relationships

• Maintain high‑quality customer service with parents, participants, and the public.

Travel Demands

• Staff are responsible for travel to and from the job site each workday. Reliable transportation is required.

Key Performance Indicators

• Pre and Post Season/Program Reviews performed by Supervisor (if applicable).
• Achievement of specific objectives for areas of responsibility.
• Evidence of high‑quality customer service, performance, and teamwork.
• Evidence of effective internal and external relationships and mission delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience teaching tennis is preferred.
• Instructors must be 14+ years old; Site Directors must be 18+.
• Experience working with children and adults in a teaching setting is preferred.
• Dependability, communication skills, and an excellent work ethic.
• Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
• Desire to serve as a positive role model and promote tennis.
• Ability to lead and direct participant activities and transitions.
• Comfortable collaborating and taking direction.
• Must pass a background check.
• Ability to make quick decisions that best serve participants.
• Work independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities, goals, and projects.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Conditions of Hire

• Continuous background check clearance required.
• Complete USTA Safe Sport online education and maintain SafePlay approval.
• Register in ADP Workforce Now for payroll.
• Authorization to work within the United States.
• Sign USTA PNW Offer Letter, Employee Handbook, and all required policies upon hire.
• Ability to fulfill essential job functions with reasonable accommodations.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly rates outlined in the seasonally signed Offer Letter.
• Position is currently ineligible for benefits specified in the Employee Handbook.
• Eligible for sick benefits as defined by state requirements; sick hours accrued in ADP Workforce Now.
