Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - OBGYN (Orwigsburg)

Job Overview The Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will provide healthcare services to patients under the supervision of, and/or in collaboration with, the attending physician. Core duties include medical evaluation, treatment, counseling, referrals, diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic remediation, surgical assistance, and pharmaceutical prescriptions. The role also requires patient advocacy and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Perform competent assessment, treatment, counseling, and education of patients and families. Conduct physical examinations and obtain, study, and update medical histories. Administer or order diagnostic tests (radiology, laboratory studies) and interpret results accurately. Develop, implement, and evaluate patient management and treatment plans based on clinical needs. Coordinate and communicate patient care with other healthcare professionals and institutions. Provide high‑quality care based on best practices and evidence‑based medicine. Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within granted clinical privileges. Provide virtual care services when requested via the St. Luke’s virtual care platform. Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education, workshops, and professional societies. Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical guidelines. Teach and mentor multidisciplinary students, residents, and fellows; serve as an AP student preceptor when assigned. Implement performance improvement initiatives covering clinical care/outcomes, customer service, operations, and safety. Utilize electronic medical records for billing and documentation; maintain accurate and optimized records. Demonstrate financial responsibility by using resources efficiently in daily procedures and practices. Provide routine health maintenance and preventive education to patients. Coordinate patient care and counseling with public and mental health agencies as needed. Deliver occupational health services in urgent‑care settings, including pre‑employment physicals and injury care. Qualifications Board‑eligible or board‑certified Registered Nurse Practitioner or Medical Physician Assistant. Current license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Physician Assistants must hold current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Strong clinical decision‑making skills and ability to provide patient advocacy. Excellent communication skills for patient, family, and interprofessional interaction. Commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement. Physical and Sensory Requirements Ability to sit for up to 8 hours per day (consecutive periods up to 3 hours). Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day (consecutive periods up to 8 hours). Walking for up to 6 hours per day. Frequently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds; rarely up to 75 pounds. Frequent stooping, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and performing procedures with firm grasping, twisting, and turning. Adequate tactile, hearing (normal conversation, high and low frequencies), vision (general, near, far, color, peripheral), and speech abilities for patient care and presentations. Education Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner or Medical Physician Assistant with a current state license. Completion of an accredited nurse‑practitioner or physician‑assistant training program.
