Director of Finance

Overview Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of Finance for a mission-driven organization that partners with K-12 schools to provide strategic financial and operational support. Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals while ensuring exceptional financial guidance and service delivery across a regional portfolio. Partner with organizational and school leadership to provide strategic budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, board reporting, audit support, and financial analysis. Build trusted relationships with stakeholders by providing proactive financial guidance, resolving complex challenges, and supporting long-term organizational success. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes, implement scalable systems, and enhance operational efficiency. Establish and maintain financial reporting standards, quality assurance initiatives, and best practices that promote consistency and excellence. Support organizational growth by assisting with new client onboarding, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement of finance operations. Qualifications Experience leading financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and strategic financial planning within K-12 education, charter schools, or other mission-driven organizations. Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing finance teams while partnering with executive leadership and governing boards. Strong understanding of financial management, compliance, reporting, and public funding models within educational environments. Experience utilizing enterprise financial systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Workday, Vena, or similar ERP platforms. Excellent leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex financial initiatives.
