About the Position

Job Title: Level 4 RN L&D Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Must have an Oklahoma or Compact RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE required Must-Have: Good written and verbal communication skills Description: Hospital delivers approximately 850 to 900 infants a year. Provides general care services for full recovery for women and babies. Assesses patients' clinical conditions, recognizing and interpreting serious situations. Prioritizes and takes immediate action, including informing physicians and taking preplanned measures. Formulates nursing diagnoses to provide care for patients across the lifespan. Develops a plan of care for individual patients by interviewing patients and family members. Reviews the patient's health record and determines required health and physical care. Considers special cultural, religious, physical, and psychosocial needs in the plan of care. Contains expected outcomes individualized to the patient or situation. Initiates appropriate measures in emergency situations when the physician is not immediately available. Takes resuscitative measures in case of cardiac or respiratory arrest. Operates and monitors general and specialized emergency care equipment. Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician, including medications and IV therapy. Plans, provides, and documents teaching of patients and families in preventative, curative, and rehabilitative measures. Takes into consideration patients' and families' learning needs, styles, barriers, and readiness to learn. Records observations, nursing interventions, and therapeutic measures administered. Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes, including patient status and response to interventions. Updates the plan of care as necessary. Documents specific health care requirements for patients and prepares assignments for team members. Plans and develops care delivery and implementation of the plan. Coordinates documentation of care provided. Assumes oversight for care administered by licensed practical nurses and unlicensed personnel. Provides technical guidance, delegation, and direction to other nursing staff. Shares responsibilities for sustaining adequate supplies and equipment on the unit. Maintains knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice. Promotes professional growth for self and other staff members. Demonstrates positive role model and leadership qualities. Adheres to and promotes professional, ethical, and legal standards of nursing. Maintains and promotes positive personal work habits and interpersonal skills. Builds strong public relationships with colleagues and families.
