Physician - Associate Chief of Staff - Clinical Care Coordination (Mather)

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet the specific eligibility requirements per VA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval awards up to $200,000, with an eligibility period of one to five years determined by the VA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants who have yet to complete training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physicians in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree in Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a VA approved school for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies are: (1) Programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and listed for the year the residency or fellowship was completed; (2) One year of post‑medical‑school training (internship, first year of residency, or transitional year residency) approved by ACGME or AOA, followed by two years of independent practice under a full and unrestricted license in the United States; (3) Non‑U.S. residency training followed by a minimum of three years of verified independent practice in the United States in duties related to the position. Exceptions: Residents currently enrolled in accredited residency training programs who otherwise meet the basic requirements are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians, may only be appointed on an intermittent basis, and are not considered independent practitioners. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Applicants must meet physical standards for the position, including lifting 15–44 pounds, pushing for approximately two hours, reaching above shoulder height, using both hands, walking, standing for 3–5 hours, kneeling, rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, depth perception, and color discrimination. This is a designated drug testing position with random testing for illegal drug use after appointment. Hearing aid use is permitted. Duties and Responsibilities This JOA will remain open until August 10, 2026. The initial cut‑off date for referral of eligible applications is June 17, 2026, with subsequent cut‑off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. VHA Physician Total Rewards package, including sign‑on bonus, authorized work schedule (full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm), and permanent change of station relocation assistance. Authorized Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment) – former participants are ineligible for the incentive. Pay: Competitive salary with annual performance bonus, regular salary increases, and 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, plus possible 5‑day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long‑term care, and other federal insurance programs, with many options carryable into retirement. Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory. CME reimbursement: Possible $1,000 per year for board certification. Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Location: VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS), including Sacramento VA Medical Center (81‑bed inpatient facility with four operating rooms and emergency services), Martinez VA Outpatient Clinic (ambulatory surgical unit and 120‑bed community living center), and 13 community‑based outpatient clinics throughout Northern California serving over 100,000 Veterans. Duties and Responsibilities: Consolidate transition‑of‑care infrastructure, create SOPs, policies, and procedures, support decision making, enhance leadership availability, review market share distribution of VA resources, revisit showcasing VA options, formalize a mission statement, create and revise MOUs with private sector partners, evaluate veteran satisfaction, and coordinate with research and pain management programs to reduce opioid crisis and provider burnout. #J-18808-Ljbffr
