0.9 FTE Full‑time rotating 12‑hour Clinical Nurse position at Stanford Health Care – onsite in Palo Alto, CA (500 Pasteur Dr). This role is part of the Surgery Services Pre‑/Post Care intervention team, with a focus on family‑centered, evidence‑based nursing care. What You Will Do Establish therapeutic relationships: Create and maintain a healing climate, greet patients and families, manage discomforts, provide emotional support and information, and guide patients through illness, recovery, or end‑of‑life in accordance with patient goals and culture. Mobilize patients’ strengths and abilities toward participation in recovery and control over the plan of care. Diagnostic and Monitoring Functions: Obtain accurate assessment data, interpret normal vs abnormal findings, determine nursing diagnoses, and monitor and evaluate data as frequently as needed based on patient stability. Plan and Implement Therapeutic Interventions: Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to develop individualized plans of care; safely implement nursing and medical interventions; evaluate effectiveness and monitor for adverse responses. Teach and Coach Patients and Families: Assess learning needs and readiness; teach self‑care and illness prevention; adjust information based on responses, developmental level, physiological and psychological conditions, and cultural variations. Provide Staff Teaching: Educate staff members, both incidentally and through formal roles such as preceptor or super‑user. Manage Rapidly Changing Situations: Quickly grasp complex scenarios, respond appropriately, and activate emergency protocols when necessary. Monitor and Ensure Quality Healthcare Practices: Review personal practices and support others to maintain safety and compliance; identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Organize and Prioritize Work: Integrate multiple requests, set priorities, delegate tasks, and seek assistance when needed. Contribute to Team Building: Participate in unit programs, meetings, and contribute to positive morale through constructive conflict resolution. Utilize Technology: Learn and use available communication, documentation, and information‑retrieval technologies for unusual clinical situations, diagnostics, and treatments. Share Knowledge: Contribute to nursing skill development through teaching, Shared Governance participation, professional publications, or presentations. Pursue Lifelong Learning: Attain and maintain current nursing knowledge and competence. Communicate Effectively: Use multiple communication formats across all practice areas. Demonstrate Leadership: Exhibit leadership within the professional practice setting and the broader nursing profession. Education Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective communication in English.
