FP&A Director

Director, FP&A Advisory Company: Financial & Business Advisory Firm Compensation: $170K-$210K Base + Bonus Location: Hybrid | San Diego, CA Overview Join a growing advisory firm focused on supporting life sciences and biotech companies through critical stages of growth. This is a client-facing role partnering directly with CFOs, CEOs, founders, and investors to drive forecasting, financial planning, board reporting, cash management, and strategic decision-making across multiple client engagements. Key Responsibilities * Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for biotech and life sciences clients * Build and maintain financial models, cash runway analyses, and scenario planning tools * Provide board reporting, KPI analysis, and executive decision support * Partner directly with CFOs and leadership teams on strategic finance initiatives * Support fundraising activities, business planning, and growth strategies * Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously in a consulting environment Minimum Qualifications * 8+ years of FP&A, strategic finance, or advisory experience * Prior client-facing consulting or professional services experience * Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and business partnering skills * Experience working with executive leadership teams Preferred Qualifications * Life sciences or biotech industry experience * Big 4 accounting or consulting background * CPA, CFA, or MBA * Experience supporting venture-backed or high-growth companies Why This Role Stands Out * Direct exposure to CFOs, founders, and investors * Variety of projects and clients rather than a single company * Opportunity to help build a growing FP&A advisory practice * Hybrid flexibility and strong career growth potential * Strategic, high-impact work with innovative life sciences organizations Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
