Join a multidisciplinary engineering team developing advanced maritime systems that integrate complex mechanical equipment with automation and control technologies. As a PLC Controls Engineer, you focus on Siemens PLC programming, controls integration, and modernization of an existing electromechanical launch and recovery platform used in demanding operational environments. You work across software, controls, troubleshooting, and hands-on engineering to improve system performance, reliability, and documentation.
Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain Siemens PLC software using Ladder Logic and associated controls programming tools.
• Analyze existing control system architectures and implement improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Support integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and testing of automated electromechanical systems.
• Create and maintain electrical, controls, and software documentation, including control narratives, I/O lists, logic descriptions, and technical procedures.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, systems, and software engineers to implement and validate control system enhancements.
• Investigate system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve controls-related problems.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, field testing, and operational demonstrations of control systems.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to future control system architecture and modernization initiatives.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in programming Siemens PLCs using Ladder Logic.
• Strong understanding of industrial control systems, automation, motion control, HMI development, or electromechanical equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting control systems in laboratory, manufacturing, or field environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, cross-functional engineering environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with automated launch systems, material handling equipment, marine systems, robotics, or other complex industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with networking, distributed I/O, motor drives, sensors, actuators, and control system integration.
• Experience generating or updating technical documentation to support customer or government requirements.
• Background in systems engineering and integration of complex electromechanical and automation systems.

Work Environment
This role is based onsite in Pocasset, MA, within a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment focused on advanced maritime and electromechanical systems. You work closely with mechanical, electrical, systems, and software engineers in laboratory and field settings, supporting integration, commissioning, testing, and demonstrations of automated launch and recovery platforms and related equipment. The work involves hands-on interaction with industrial control hardware such as Siemens PLCs, distributed I/O, motor drives, sensors, actuators, and associated networking and automation technologies, in a setting that values rigorous documentation, system reliability, and continuous improvement.

This is a Permanent position based out of Pocasset, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
