Job Title: Adjunct Faculty - Music (Specific Positions) Agency: East Texas A&M University Department: Music Proposed Minimum Salary: Commensurate Job Location: Commerce, Texas Job Type: Faculty SUMMARY Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course‑by‑course basis throughout an academic year. ADJUNCT POSITIONS Adjunct Instructor of Voice Adjunct Instructor of String Methods Adjunct Instructor of Trombone/Euphonium Adjunct Instructor of Mariachi DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) within the required discipline. Instruction may be delivered on‑campus, off‑campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs. Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards. Plan and create lectures, in‑class discussions, and assignments. Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations. Assist/mentor students as needed. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Master’s degree in Music Experience: 1 or more years of collegiate teaching experience. Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to: Multi‑task and work cooperatively with others. Licensing/Professional Certifications: N/A Physical Requirements: N/A Other Requirements: N/A PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Doctor of Musical Arts, PhD in Music Education or related degree/field. Special consideration for candidates with a degree in trombone or euphonium performance, vocal performance, or music education with a foundation in string methods/pedagogy. Special consideration for candidates with successful experience with mariachi ensembles. College or university teaching experience. Evidence of teaching excellence.
