Advanced Practice Provider

About the Role The responsible for practicing medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions. Within physician–physician assistant (PA) relationship, PAs exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. What You’ll Be Doing Conduct physical exams, assess health status, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and treat illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds. Consult with physicians as needed and refer to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA’s scope of work. Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care. Triage patient calls and evaluate patient problems. Respond to emergencies including use of CPR. Counsel patients/families on preventive health care. Document patient information and care in medical record and may maintain department statistical database for research purposes. What We Expect From You Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program. Four years of health care experience prior to applying to PA program, plus one year of experience as PA, preferably in clinic setting. New York State license. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
