Director, Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice

West Monroe is seeking a Director to join our Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. This leader will advise healthcare and life sciences organizations on their most complex business and transformation priorities while building lasting executive relationships and delivering measurable outcomes. The Director will lead strategic client engagements, expand key accounts, originate new opportunities, and shape capabilities that strengthen West Monroe's position in the market.

We support the full HCLS value chain across payers, providers, medtech, biopharma, digital health, and other healthcare and life sciences segments, with expertise in operations, technology transformation, and M&A.

What You Will Do

Client Delivery

• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, bringing healthcare and life sciences expertise and a cross-functional perspective to complex business challenges.

• Lead large-scale, complex transformation programs, ensuring alignment between client objectives, business outcomes, delivery strategy, and execution.

• Provide executive oversight across engagements, including scope, financial performance, staffing, quality, risk, and client satisfaction.

• Mobilize multidisciplinary teams and capabilities to address client priorities and deliver measurable impact.

• Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.

• Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.

Business Development

• Originate and shape opportunities with new and existing healthcare and life sciences clients, translating executive priorities into meaningful transformation initiatives.

• Develop and expand senior executive relationships, positioning West Monroe as a trusted strategic partner.

• Lead complex pursuits, including opportunity strategy, solution development, proposals, executive presentations, and commercial discussions.

• Grow strategic accounts by identifying unmet client needs and connecting West Monroe capabilities to opportunities for measurable impact.

• Strengthen West Monroe's market presence through industry relationships, thought leadership, events, and relevant market perspectives.

Practice Development

• Shape the strategy and growth of Healthcare & Life Sciences capabilities, offerings, intellectual property, and go-to-market priorities.

• Develop differentiated approaches, methodologies, and assets that address evolving client and market needs.

• Build organizational capability by mentoring leaders, developing talent, and creating opportunities for others to grow.

• Support recruiting and retention of high-performing, diverse teams and foster an inclusive culture.

• Collaborate across practices and capabilities to bring integrated solutions to the market.

What You Will Bring

• Extensive consulting or professional services experience, including leadership of complex transformation programs and executive client relationships.

• Deep healthcare and/or life sciences expertise, with demonstrated understanding of industry business models, challenges, trends, and transformation priorities.

• Proven experience originating opportunities, expanding strategic accounts, and leading complex sales pursuits.

• Ability to advise senior executives, influence strategic decisions, and translate complex challenges into actionable solutions.

• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams and development of emerging leaders.

• Strong commercial, financial, communication, and relationship-management capabilities.

• Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.

• Ability to travel 25 to 50%.

Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.​ Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale.

Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Eligibility for ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available upon hire date.
