Director of Supply Chain

Strategic Leader For Government Contracts

Sparks Group, partnered with a security and defense organization, is in search of a strategic leader to manage all logistical, procurement, and inventory operations in support of government contracts. This role is responsible for ensuring full adherence to federal regulatory standards while driving cost-efficiency and performance across the supply chain to meet mission-critical program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Direct strategic planning for all supply chain activities, ensuring alignment with both corporate objectives and government program goals.
• Manage end-to-end procurement and subcontracting within strict FAR/DFARS frameworks, maintaining consistent audit readiness for CPSR, DCMA, and DCAA reviews.
• Oversee supplier and subcontractor performance, establishing robust qualification, monitoring, and risk mitigation protocols.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of supply chain professionals, implementing training programs to ensure operational excellence and regulatory adherence.
• Define and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), providing executive leadership with actionable insights regarding cost savings, small business utilization, and delivery metrics.
• Champion a culture of compliance by maintaining simplified policies and conducting internal training on government contracting requirements.

Qualifications/Background Profile

• 10–15+ years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
• Deep expertise in federal contracting regulations, specifically FAR/DFARS, and proven success navigating CPSR requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Technical proficiency in ERP/SCM systems such as Deltek Costpoint, SAP, or Oracle.
• Proven ability to manage risk and performance in high-stakes environments, balancing cost and schedule constraints.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of influencing internal executives and government partners.
• Active Secret security clearance (or higher) is preferred.
