Position Summary Under the general direction of the Director, Dreamer Resource Center, the Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, expanding, and evaluating programs that support undocumented students and students with mixed‑status families. The role aligns with three primary goals: 1) provide access to higher education opportunities, 2) create a campus culture of understanding and sensitivity, and 3) increase retention and graduation by addressing unique academic, personal, and professional needs. The Coordinator will create and implement related programs and services, assist in recruitment, enrichment, inclusion, and retention, serve as a liaison to campus offices and community partners, help secure external funding, and recruit, hire, and supervise student staff, interns, and fellows. Partnerships within Sacramento State and the larger community will be developed and maintained to support program success. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of principles of individual and group behavior and student services practices. Experience with student services and counseling techniques; ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge. Ability to analyze complex situations, advise students individually or in groups, and make sound decisions. Experience: approximately three years of progressively responsible professional student services work; a master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate or appropriate internship may substitute for the three years for counseling‑focused roles. Education: graduation from a four‑year college or university in a related field, including upper‑division or graduate coursework in counseling, interview, and conflict resolution. Required Qualifications Higher‑education student services experience related to the assigned program area (e.g., advising, admissions, student programming, or development). Experience working with students from varied ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, including at‑risk students. Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide direct programs and services to a diverse student population. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to compile, prepare, write, and review reports. Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Familiarity with school‑based record/data systems (e.g., PeopleSoft). Ability to understand and apply moderately complex rules, regulations, and procedures. Proven skills in working with undocumented students and students with mixed‑status families. Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate student assistants and volunteers. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends. Has access to a vehicle and can travel as needed. Commitment to a welcoming and inclusive environment for diverse colleagues and constituents. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing partnerships and cultivating collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies. Knowledge of college student development and pedagogical theories related to first‑generation and underserved students. Ability to identify and address the needs of undocumented students and students with mixed‑status families. Knowledge of services and resources for undocumented students and immigrant communities. Familiarity with state and federal policies affecting undocumented students. Experience with grant writing and fundraising processes. Skill in reading, analyzing, and explaining complex documents related to undocumented students, including federal and state regulations. Fluent in Spanish and English.
