Sterling Engineering is hiring a Controls Engineer for a highly stable, industry‑leading manufacturer known for technical innovation, hands‑on engineering collaboration, and strong long‑term career growth opportunities.
A chance to see the world to see the world with travel opportunities to Dubai, Turkey, Brazil, Colombia, Australia, and other international destinations. Not overwhelming, about 25% travel anticipated for this role.
3 weeks PTO to start with profit sharing and available bonuses!
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and specify electrical and control systems for industrial food-processing and automated equipment.
- Program, test, and optimize PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and related control components.
- Manage external contractors for control panel design and assembly, ensuring they meet technical and schedule requirements.
- Lead custom equipment projects from quote through shipment and commissioning, working directly with customers to define requirements, timelines, and cost expectations.
- Travel domestically and internationally to support installation, integration, and commissioning of new production lines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with at least one year of manufacturing experience.
- Strong experience with programming and applying PLCs, VFDs, and industrial control systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley strongly preferred).
- Skilled in electrical design and interpreting wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, DraftSight, or similar tools for electrical schematics.
- Any food industry experience would be a plus
