Job Description

The Technician Helper supports the installation of low-voltage cabling systems on commercial and industrial job sites. This role focuses on pulling and running cable through ceilings, organizing materials, and assisting with installation tasks using hand tools. It is well suited for motivated, entry-level candidates who are eager to learn a skilled trade and grow within the low-voltage industry.

Responsibilities

• Pull cable and run cable through ceiling tiles and other building structures in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assist with installing low-voltage cabling systems for applications such as fire alarm, data, and other building systems.
• Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
• Organize, stage, and move materials on job sites to support efficient project execution.
• Use hand tools and basic construction tools to complete cabling, installation, and general labor tasks.
• Support cable pulling, wire routing, and data cable installation activities as directed by senior technicians.
• Assist with termination, basic testing, and verification of low-voltage cabling under supervision.
• Follow directions from project leads and technicians to ensure work meets quality and safety standards.
• Read and follow spreadsheets and documentation, especially on data center projects, to ensure accurate installation and tracking.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on commercial construction sites and in existing facilities.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including working only on vacant sites and non-live wiring as directed.
• Remain flexible and available for overtime as needed to meet project schedules.
• Travel and commute to various job sites across the greater Nashville area, including locations such as Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Madison, and surrounding areas.
• Report to the office on the first day and then proceed directly to assigned job sites for ongoing work.
• Demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and reliability, particularly on data center projects where accuracy is critical.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience using hand tools in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar environment.
• At least 1 year of construction, wiring, cable pulling, or related field experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment and operating basic machinery or equipment.
• Exposure to low-voltage systems, installation, fire alarm wiring, pulling wire, and data cable work.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• Ability to use hand tools confidently and follow instructions on construction and cabling tasks.
• Ability to read and work from spreadsheets, especially for data center projects.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling cabling, terminations, and documentation.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime when needed.
• Willingness to commute within approximately 50 miles of Nashville to various job sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with low-voltage cabling is a plus.
• Background in cable pulling, termination, and testing of data cables is beneficial.
• Experience on commercial construction job sites, industrial facilities, or existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings is advantageous.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced construction or industrial environment.
• Motivated, entry-level mindset with a strong desire to learn and build a long-term trade career.
• Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail, especially for data center projects.
• Ability to follow project documentation and instructions provided via spreadsheets and other tools.
• Openness to starting on projects in locations such as Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Smyrna, Madison, and nearby areas.

Work Environment

Work takes place on vacant commercial construction sites, industrial facilities, and existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings. You work only with non-live wiring on these sites. There are openings on a traditional first shift and on an off-shift schedule. First shift typically runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and may involve projects in areas such as Murfreesboro, Nashville, Franklin, Smyrna, and other nearby locations. The off-shift schedule generally runs Tuesday through Thursday from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, Friday from 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm, and Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, primarily supporting data center work in locations such as Franklin, TN and Nashville, TN. Job sites require commuting throughout the greater Nashville area, and you report to the office on the first day before going directly to job sites thereafter. The environment is typical of commercial construction and industrial settings, with an emphasis on professionalism, safety, and attention to detail, particularly on data center projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $21.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
