Licensed Practical Nurse - Full Time

Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the supervision of the RN Team Leader. The LPN functions within the team to provide total patient care, assists the registered nurse in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients, performs clinical procedures permitted within the scope of practice, and follows nursing department policies. The LPN promotes cooperation and a positive attitude, creates a safe environment for patients and staff, and adheres to all established hospital safety policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs phlebotomy, EKGs, and medication administration, including IM and IV hydration, IVIG, iron, and blood products as ordered. Obtains vital signs and records medical history and treatments in EMR. Assists with gynecologic exams, biopsies, interventions, and sterilization of instruments, including setting up sterile fields for procedures.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

NYS licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. BLS provider by the American Heart Association required. Proficiency in phlebotomy and 12‑lead EKG, with a minimum of one year of experience required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in Cerner PowerChart preferred. As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.
