Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with physicians in an office setting. Essential Job Functions Under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides health care to patients including diagnosis and treatment. Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, makes diagnoses and orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Under the supervision of physician, obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, makes diagnosis and orders appropriate and standard laboratory and diagnostic procedures as necessary in the office. Evaluates procedure results and findings to physicians. Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient’s plan of care. Provides patient education about underlying medical condition, self‑management of acute or chronic illnesses and tailors instructions to patients’ individual circumstances. Instructs and counsels patients regarding therapeutic regimens, promoting wellness and health maintenance. Reviews test results. Develops patient’s plan of care. Prescribes medications. Administers immunizations. Documents exam and progress notes. Provides referral letters as needed. In addition to office visits, the Nurse Practitioner will perform other duties as assigned by supervising physicians. Ensures HIPAA guidelines are followed at all times. Salary Range $109,000‑$137,000 annually Position Requirements Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse Current New York State license as a Nurse Practitioner Certification as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Competence with computerized health records Ability to work with other medical professionals Physical Demands May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
