Location Avera Behavioral Health Center – Sioux Falls, South Dakota Job Details Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays (United States of America) Pay Range: $32.50 – $48.50 per hour (actual pay depends on experience). This position may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus of up to $15,000. Position Highlights The unit is an 18‑bed short‑term inpatient Acute Unit focused on safety and stabilization. Responsibilities Review physician prescriptions, communicate the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to the health‑care team, coordinate with other providers, and provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical condition, psychological status, and social factors, conferring with family, establishing nursing diagnoses, care objectives, interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teach healthcare requirements by setting patient‑care goals, instructing patients and families on conditions, medications, and self‑care skills, answering questions, and providing resources. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against care standards, reviewing records, noting changing conditions and needs, re‑evaluating care objectives, and modifying the nursing care plan. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy care environment by following infection‑control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled‑substance regulations, and organizational and legal standards. Document patient‑care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient‑care equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Keep patient‑care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the specified hours and perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including having adequate visual acuity and effective communication skills. Active license in the state of practice upon hire. Preferred Experience 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
