Supervising Paralegal 2 | Social & Health Services | Seattle

Position and Salary The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full‑time Paralegal 2 in the Social & Health Services Division. This position is located in Seattle, Washington. Salary range: $61,644 – $82,872 annually (Effective 7/1/2025) or $62,880 – $84,528 (Effective 7/1/2026). The base pay will consider internal equity and variations based on the preferred candidate’s skills, knowledge, and experience. Additional stipends may apply: Group C Assignment Pay, King County Location Pay, and Dual Language Requirement Pay, depending on assignment and language skills. Duties and Essential Functions Supervisory: Supervise, train, and coach legal support staff; prioritize work; monitor performance; assist in hiring, discipline, and leave approval; Legal Support: Perform expert‑level paralegal duties, including drafting pleadings, correspondence, briefs, memos, and reports; verify citations and references; proofread and edit legal documents; schedule meetings, depositions, and hearings; maintain attorneys’ calendars and ensure deadlines are met; Management: Coordinate with the Administrative Office Manager and other division managers to plan, lead, and organize work; draft and update office procedures and manuals; attend management meetings and participate in business planning. Qualifications Combination of four years of experience through one of the following pathways, or one year of experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service: Paralegal certification, a two‑year paralegal degree, or a Paralegal Plus (or nine‑month paralegal, post‑BA) certification; Paraprofessional experience supporting an attorney, including: Preparing legal pleadings and correspondence; Ensuring timely and proper service of legal documents; Calculating, verifying, and calendaring critical dates; Managing case documents, files, and exhibits; Tracking and organizing discovery documents; Researching legal issues and verifying citations. One year experience as a Paralegal 1 within Washington State Service. Preferred Skills and Knowledge Familiarity with juvenile abuse/neglect litigation, family law, or elder abuse/neglect cases; Strong communication and teamwork abilities, including the capacity to work independently under pressure; Knowledge of court rules and effective use of related databases and software; Proficiency in organizing electronic and hard‑copy records.
