Auto Body Technician

The Auto Body Technician is responsible for repairing damaged vehicle body parts in accordance with company specifications, processes and time standards. The Auto Body Technician is skilled in analyzing, assessing and fixing damaged vehicles, repairing, replacing and refinishing outer body parts, and fixing internal automotive structures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to established standards. Prepares vehicles for body repair work and restores bodywork to its original condition, which may include removing damaged parts and installing replacements while realigning structural components. Communicates with management regarding any additional repairs needed and notifies them of any difficulties that may affect quality or delivery time. Maintains tools and equipment in good working order, operates all tools safely, and keeps the work area organized, clean and free of safety hazards. Appplies all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including eye protection. Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prep of vehicles, depending on schedule and area of expertise. Follows federal, state and local regulations affecting body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal. QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Solid working knowledge of the processes, techniques and materials used in automotive collision repair, with 1–3 years of experience. Extensive knowledge of vehicle structure to remove and replace damaged components such as doors, windscreens and fenders. Demonstrates required safety precautions for the work. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Physical strength to lift up to 35 pounds, occasionally over 70 pounds. Agility, equilibrium and coordination for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and balancing in tight and confined spaces. Strong arm, hand and finger dexterity with ability to handle work in limited visibility. Ability to work in a high‑performance, fast‑paced production environment.
