Quality Control Inspector II

The Quality Control Inspector II works as a liaison between quality, production, shipping, receiving departments to ensure accuracy and timeliness of quality documentation. The Quality Control Inspector II ensures continuous improvement by assisting in corrective and preventative actions to prevent or eliminate defects for existing processes and/or systems. The Quality Control Inspector II works from customer specifications, technical drawings or verbal instructions to ensure product quality which meets SCS standards and the expectations of customers. The Quality Control Inspector II performs this function by using specialized tools, tests or procedures to identify quality issues on incoming, outgoing, and in-process products. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Inspects incoming products against customer-defined specifications and internal processes. Inspects outgoing products against customer-defined specifications and internal processes. Assists in writing non-conforming material reports. Assists Quality /Engineering personnel in root cause analysis and completion of Supplier Corrective Action Requests and Internal Corrective Action Requests. Understands and meets quality requirements as defined in Manufacturing Standard Procedures (MSP’s). Responsible for in-process and final inspection of customer parts to ensure masking and de-masking procedures are correct and complete per process and / or proper thickness requirements are met. Reviews production records for accuracy and good documentation practice. Evaluates returned product (investigation, inspection, cause) process. Assists Quality /Engineering personnel in Customer Complaints (investigation, containment, documentation). Reviews Certificate of Conformance for accuracy. Completes First Article Inspections. Adheres to plant and corporate safety policies. Demonstrates excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES May operate precision measuring instruments and record results. May perform daily tasks in a clean room environment. Maintains a high level of personal hygiene. Maintains a neat and orderly work area. May assist in packing, preparing for shipment and shipment of customer parts as well as preparing the shipping documents and coordinating with Customer Service. Adheres to plant and corporate safety policies. May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). A minimum of two years of related experience and/or training preferred. BASIC SKILLS Ability to comprehend and carry out English written and verbal instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams. Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to communicate data, instructions, production results, quality issues, and similar subjects both verbally and in writing. Ability to utilize basic Microsoft office products such as: Excel, Word, Email, etc. Ability to troubleshoot. High degree of manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination. Ability to distinguish between the colors of red, orange, yellow, blue, green and violet. Able to read at a 20/20 visual acuity using a Jaeger eye chart (near vision) with or without vision correction. Able to read No. 1 at 14” distance, or No. 2 at 20” distance, or No. 3 at 24” distance.
