The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is currently looking to fill the position of Water & Sewer Plant Operator. This is a full-time position available in the Water & Sewer department for an experienced Operator. The Water & Sewer Plant Operator will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks to include inspecting, maintaining, monitoring, and managing the distribution system.

Key Responsibilities of Water and Sewer Plant Operator

Requires Florida State License C or higher in Water/Waste Water Treatments plant operations. This position is not for a trainee, we are searching for a person in full knowledge, familiar with the daily operation of Water treatment equipment.

• Water Treatment and Distribution
• • Understanding how to Operate equipment in water treatment plants to purify water.
  • Understanding and Manage the distribution system, including pumps, well, and storage tanks.

• Water Quality Monitoring:
• • Collect and analyze water samples to ensure they meet regulatory standards: Total Coliform, Nitrate, Inorganic Contaminants, Synthetic Organic Contaminants, Dioxin, Volatile Organic Contaminants, Radium, Asbestos, Disinfection Byproducts: TTHM & HAA5, Lead, Copper
  • Monitor treatment parameters like pH, chlorine levels, and turbidity.

• Equipment & System Maintenance:
• o   Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pumps, motors, valves, and meters.
• o   Repair water main breaks and service link leaks.
• o   Clean and disinfect storage tanks and other system components.

Safety & Compliance:

• Handle and store treatment chemicals safely.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local water quality regulations, such as the Safe Drinking Water Act.
• Maintain details records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and repair logs.

Specific Tasks:

• Operate light equipment like Trucks, Generators, Movers and buggies.
• Reading meters, installing water meters, and repairing faulty ones.
• Performing line locates to identify and protect underground utilities.
• Maintaining facility grounds and equipment.

Open and approachable communication style, good maintaining open lines of communication with all team members, has listening skills and empathy to create an environment of mutual respect and understanding with the team.
