Maintenance Technician

Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components. This is a hands-on role ideal for a self-starter who can work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain a strong focus on safety and equipment reliability. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on production equipment, forklifts, and facility systems Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues Maintain and service machinery through cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine root cause with minimal supervision Assist with electrical repairs (lighting, fuses, basic wiring) and minor carpentry/plumbing tasks Set up, remove, and store production molds per documented procedures Maintain and rebuild components such as fill guns and ejectors Conduct water treatment testing (pH, hardness, etc.) and document results Support maintenance inventory and interact with vendors/suppliers as needed Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals Follow work orders, job specifications, and complete all required documentation Support predictive and preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment uptime Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements Maintain a clean and organized work area Assist with additional maintenance and facility tasks as assigned Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documents Experience with MRP/ERP work order systems Experience maintaining equipment such as air compressors, dryers, vacuum pumps, and low-pressure boilers Forklift maintenance experience preferred Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Willingness to work overtime and attend after-hours work as needed Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb throughout the shift Comfortable working at heights and using ladders Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, temperature changes, and moving machinery Must be able to wear required PPE (safety glasses, steel/composite toe boots, hearing protection, gloves) EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER: Surge is an equal opportunity employer.
