Project Manager - Water / Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will involve managing the full project lifecycle, ensuring that work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards. Projects may include treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs, pipelines, networks, and associated civil, mechanical, and electrical works.


You will be responsible for developing and maintaining project programmes, budgets, risk registers, procurement plans, and delivery strategies. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, regulators, and internal stakeholders, you will coordinate design development, construction activities, commissioning, and handover. Your duties will include monitoring progress, managing change control, resolving technical and commercial issues, preparing reports, and ensuring that projects comply with relevant legislation, specifications, environmental requirements, and health and safety procedures. You will also provide leadership to multidisciplinary project teams and promote a collaborative, accountable working culture.


Applicants should have proven experience managing water or wastewater projects, preferably within a regulated utilities, engineering, construction, or infrastructure environment. A strong understanding of project controls, contract administration, construction methods, risk management, and quality assurance is essential. Experience working under NEC, JCT, or similar forms of contract would be advantageous. You should be an organised and confident communicator, capable of influencing stakeholders and making sound decisions in a demanding delivery environment. A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline is desirable, together with a recognised project management qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience. The role may require travel to project sites and occasional flexible working to meet delivery requirements.
