Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning and design through to construction, commissioning and handover. The role will involve managing projects of varying scale and complexity, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality, environmental and regulatory standards. You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, operational teams and other stakeholders to establish clear objectives, maintain effective communication and achieve successful outcomes.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and managing project programmes, budgets, procurement strategies, risk registers and delivery plans. You will coordinate design development, approvals, site activities, testing and commissioning, while monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions where required. The successful candidate will oversee contract administration, change control, payment assessments, forecasting and commercial performance. You will also ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, environmental obligations, relevant legislation, technical standards and quality management procedures. Regular reporting to senior stakeholders, leading project meetings and maintaining accurate project documentation will form an important part of the role.


Applicants should have proven experience managing water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering or other complex infrastructure projects, ideally from feasibility through to completion. A relevant qualification in civil engineering, project management, construction management or a related discipline is preferred. You will need strong knowledge of project controls, construction methodologies, contract management and risk management, together with the ability to interpret technical information and make sound commercial decisions. Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to build productive relationships across multidisciplinary teams. Professional project management or engineering accreditation would be advantageous. A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach is required, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
