Position Overview


A leading heavy equipment rental organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Branch Manager for its Weslaco, Texas location.

This position supports the daily operation and leadership of the branch, including personnel management, equipment availability, customer service, sales support, safety compliance, and financial performance. The Assistant Branch Manager will take responsibility for the branch in the Branch Manager's absence.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience within heavy equipment rental, construction equipment, industrial services, or a related environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the daily management of branch operations and personnel.
• Lead, coach, and develop employees while maintaining a productive and accountable team environment.
• Oversee team goals and ensure performance expectations are consistently achieved.
• Monitor equipment availability, utilization, purchasing needs, and rental readiness.
• Coordinate with sales, customer service, service, and dispatch teams.
• Review weekly sales plans and help ensure they are properly executed.
• Identify slow-moving equipment and communicate availability to the sales team.
• Maintain communication with the Service Manager regarding equipment that is unavailable for rent.
• Assist with equipment demonstrations and provide technical support when required.
• Ensure the branch yard, facility, equipment, and employees maintain a professional appearance.
• Promote a customer-focused approach across sales, service, and operations.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, workplace safety requirements, and company procedures.
• Assist with dispatching responsibilities and conduct routine inspections of the branch yard.
• Support budgeting and accurate financial reporting, including contract, accounts payable, accrual, and asset-disposal reports.
• Monitor operational performance and KPIs to help the branch meet its business objectives.
• Assume responsibility for branch operations in the Branch Manager's absence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Five to eight years of related industry or operational experience.
• Three to five years of management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous experience in heavy equipment rental, construction equipment, industrial services, or a related industry strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction equipment, rental operations, and equipment maintenance.
• Experience supporting sales, customer service, fleet utilization, and branch operations.
• Familiarity with budgeting, financial reporting, expense control, and performance metrics.
• Strong leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Ability to frequently move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and safely maneuver around or underneath equipment.
• Willingness to work both inside an office and outdoors around heavy equipment.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and occasionally around loud machinery.
• Required safety training and personal protective equipment must be used when working outside designated office areas.
