MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Job Purpose / Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the construction, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of sand and aggregate processing plants. Plant experience is required , and Frac experience is a plus .

This position is responsible for constructing and assembling new sand plants and performing comprehensive mechanical, welding, hydraulic, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance work on associated plant equipment. The ideal candidate is a skilled troubleshooter who can work independently, safely, and efficiently in a demanding industrial environment.

The successful candidate will have strong experience working with conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, motors, pumps, belts, structural components, and other plant equipment, with the ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Construction & Assembly

• Construct and assemble new sand plants as assigned.
• Support plant construction, installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
• Read and work from technical specifications, drawings, and equipment requirements.
• Assist with equipment installation, alignment, rigging, and startup.
• Ensure construction and assembly work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Maintenance & Repair Operations

• Perform mechanical repairs, welding, fabrication, electrical work, plumbing, hydraulic repairs, boiler maintenance, and air-system servicing.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify the root cause of mechanical and operational issues.
• Complete repairs in accordance with technical specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company safety standards.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and maintenance needs in a timely manner.

Specialized Maintenance Skills

• Perform bearing, gearbox, and electric motor changes.
• Perform Flexco and Super-Screw conveyor belt splicing and repairs.
• Perform slurry pump swaps, repairs, and rebuilds.
• Perform poly pipe fusing and repairs.
• Perform welding, cutting, structural fabrication, and equipment modifications as required.
• Perform mechanical alignment of shafts, sheaves, pulleys, motors, gearboxes, and related components.
• Safely rig, lift, move, and install heavy equipment and components.

Equipment Maintenance Scope

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a broad range of sand and aggregate plant equipment, including:

• Feed systems and conveying systems
• Conveyor belts, pulleys, idlers, and belt tracking systems
• Gearboxes, bearings, motors, and drive systems
• Scrubber systems
• Shaker and screening systems
• Classifying systems
• Discharge hopper systems
• Weigh systems
• Central mixer systems
• Load-carrying systems
• Structural systems
• Water and slurry systems
• Air systems
• Electrical systems
• Crushers
• Hydraulic systems
• Recycling systems
• Pumps and piping systems
• Baghouses
• Elevators
• Silos
• Loadout systems

Inspection & Reporting

• Inspect equipment in accordance with the company's prescribed inspection schedule.
• Complete and submit accurate inspection and maintenance reports.
• Document completed repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment conditions, and parts used.
• Identify potential equipment failures and communicate maintenance needs to the Plant Manager.
• Maintain accurate records to support preventative maintenance and equipment reliability.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Follow applicable federal and state mining regulations.
• Use required PPE and follow safe work practices at all times.
• Follow proper lockout/tagout, equipment isolation, rigging, and lifting procedures.
• Maintain awareness of hazards associated with moving equipment, electrical systems, elevated work areas, confined spaces, and industrial machinery.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of industrial, mechanical, welding, or maintenance experience.
• Sand, aggregate, mining, or similar plant experience is required.
• Frac experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience with:
  • Bearing changes
  • Gearbox changes and repairs
  • Electric motor changes
  • Flexco and Super-Screw belt splicing
  • Slurry pump swaps and rebuilds
  • Poly pipe fusing
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Conveyor belt repair, tracking, and alignment
  • Mechanical alignment
  • Rigging and lifting heavy equipment
• Strong knowledge of arc welding and cutting torch operation.
• Experience with gearboxes, bearings, structural welding, baghouses, elevators, silos, pumps, and conveyor systems.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and equipment requirements.
• Comfortable working at heights and in hot, cold, dusty, and other challenging industrial environments.
• Experience operating skid steers, telehandlers, track hoes, and/or backhoes is preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) .
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the Plant Manager and maintenance team.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, welding, or a related field is preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to lift, carry, and handle heavy objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds .
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Ability to safely work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, wet, noisy, and industrial environments.
• Ability to work around moving machinery, conveyors, heavy equipment, electrical systems, and other industrial hazards.
• Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
• Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician with proven plant experience who can diagnose problems, perform quality repairs, and keep production equipment operating safely and reliably.The ideal candidate is experienced with bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyor belt splicing, slurry pumps, poly pipe, welding/fabrication, rigging, and mechanical alignment . Candidates with Frac experience are strongly encouraged to apply .This is a hands-on position for someone who takes ownership of equipment reliability, works safely, and can get the job done when production depends on it.
