Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1.5 years in Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, NIH, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Experience with EPIC Ability to pass an online EKG tele competency assessment 1:5 patient ratio experience in Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit Competency in running IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, cardizem, insulin, and more Description: This position involves caring for patients in an advanced care cardiac unit. Typical patients include those with heart failure, chest pain rule outs, NSTEMI, post-procedure care, COPD exacerbation, and drug or alcohol withdrawal. Registered Nurses must be competent in managing complex cases and administering various high-risk medications. Daily average census on the unit is approximately 31 patients. Unit RNs are required to work every other weekend and holiday. Travelers are required to float into other units as needed. Navy blue scrubs are mandatory for this position. RTO requests must be included with initial application submission. No additional RTO will be considered after the offer is made. Travelers must complete laboratory work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exams within 72 hours of contract signing. Candidates should be familiar with titrating cardiac medications. The work environment is dynamic and patient-centric, requiring adaptability. No references are required for this position. Candidates must be able to interpret dysrhythmias and manage IV insulin protocols. Experience in a related field and travel nursing is preferred. Additional interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Floating may occur among assigned specialty units as needed. This role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills in a team setting.
