Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care / Step-Down (IMCU)

Contract | Nights (4x12 Hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 26-bed Intermediate Care Step-Down unit serving adult acute care patients transferred from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and pulse-oximetry continuously; manage dysrhythmias and participate in Rapid Response and Code team activations
• Manage patients requiring airway support including BIPAP, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen; perform non-invasive airway management
• Provide IV therapy and phlebotomy including peripheral line care and management; care for patients with arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• Maintain isolation precautions and adhere to evidence-based infection control practices
• Float to other units as required and adapt to varying patient care needs using a multidisciplinary team approach

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license – must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in an IMC, PCU, Step-Down, or comparable acute care setting
• BLS certification (current and valid)
• NIHSS certification (current and valid – must be included at time of submission)
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records – required, no exceptions
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 in a MedSurg capacity

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients requiring BIPAP support, arterial lines, and central line management
• Background in a tertiary care or high-acuity hospital environment
• Demonstrated ability to float across units and adapt quickly to varying patient populations
