Postdoctoral Associate, Maggirwar Lab

Position Summary GW’s Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine (MITM) seeks a full‑time Post‑Doctoral Associate to work in Dr. Maggirwar’s laboratory. The lab studies vascular complications of HIV‑1 infection, using immune cells from patient blood samples and humanized mouse models to investigate platelet and ART effects on immune response, cardiovascular disease, and neuroinflammation. The associate will conduct experiments, perform epigenetic analyses using omics approaches, analyze and interpret data, publish findings, and present results at conferences. Advanced training will be provided, and the role may also supervise lower‑level research staff. Key Responsibilities Design, conduct, and troubleshoot experimental work, including in vitro and in vivo assays. Maintain detailed documentation of all experimental procedures and results. Present data internally and externally at meetings, conferences, and symposia. Communicate regularly with the Principal Investigator and collaborators about progress. Write, edit, and submit manuscripts and abstracts for publication. Perform other related duties as assigned, ensuring logical and related task coverage. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field by the date of employment and possess a limited term of up to five years at GW. Desired Qualifications Ph.D. in Immunology, Virology, Systems Biology or related fields. Demonstrated experience in genomics/proteomics studies of clinical immune cells, with validation in in vitro or in vivo disease models. Training in rodent handling, in vivo experimentation, flow cytometry, and advanced microscopy imaging is preferred. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $62,232 – $70,344 per year.
