Psychotherapist (Licensed Mental Health Therapist)
$75k - $125kThe Lorenz Clinic, LLC
Overview Description At Lorenz Clinic, psychotherapy isn’t a product-- it’s an interpersonal process. We’re a mission-driven, clinician-led family psychology institute where systems thinking, reflective practice, and relational depth form the foundation of our work. While many clinics are reorganizing themselves around productivity quotas, algorithmic care, and interchangeable services, we’ve chosen a different path—one that centers integrity, intellectual rigor, and clinical maturity. Here, excellence isn’t just preserved, it’s cultivated. We selectively hire full-time licensed therapists who want to work at depth, not on autopilot. Our team is made up of clinicians who approach complexity with humility, think systemically, and use the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for meaningful change, not just symptom management. If you’re looking for more than checklists and caseloads, if you want to practice in a thoughtful, rigorous, and human-centered clinical community, you may have just found your next professional home. About Lorenz Clinic Lorenz Clinic is not your typical mental health clinic—we are a clinician-led, post-graduate training institute focused on Family Psychology, grounded in the belief that psychotherapy should honor human complexity. Our mission is to heal the world one relationship at a time. We’re proud to be Minnesota’s first family psychology specialty clinic and the state’s first home for organized Post-Master’s Fellowships. Our aim has never been scale—it’s excellence. We hire fewer than 5% of applicants and invest deeply in those we do. Therapists who thrive here are relational by orientation and rigorous by training. They’re energized by reflective practice, conceptual thinking, and the shared task of advancing the field. We believe that symptoms are contextual, and that therapists need supportive systems of their own to do meaningful clinical work. We’ve embedded Reflective Practice into the core infrastructure of the clinic—not as a feature, but as a foundation. Training at Lorenz is not a sideline, it’s a lifeline. Roughly 40% of our clinical team is engaged in supervision, teaching, or development work at any given time. Our training programs are nationally respected and clinically rich, and they sharpen every clinician, whether or not they’re directly involved. We’ve also built an evidence-based Clinician Wellness Roadmap rooted in fairness, peer support, and professional autonomy. We believe therapists deserve the same care and containment we expect them to offer. Our goal is to foster a system where clinicians can grow, reflect, and practice at the top of their craft—without compromising themselves in the process. About the Role At Lorenz Clinic, licensed psychotherapists serve in applied, meaningful roles, providing diagnostic assessment, psychotherapy, and treatment planning to a diverse clientele across the lifespan. Clinicians practice within their areas of competence and specialty, with support for developing clinical interests over time. Our clinics are embedded in Main Street communities, places where behavioral health access is too often out of reach. We’re not a boutique practice. We’re a relational home for those committed to the social mission of psychotherapy. Over 43% of our clients use Medicaid, and our sliding fee scale goes to zero, a tangible reflection of our values. Despite the complexity of our client population, our no-show rate is under 10%, a testament to the strength of our engagement practices and the quality of therapeutic relationships. Reflective Practice, ongoing consultation, and clinician well-being are central to our operations. We run a Wellness Roadmap, backed by evidence and co-designed with staff input. This roadmap supports manageable caseloads, fairness, autonomy, and relational support, values our clinicians say make a real difference. In anonymous, third-party Gallup surveys, 95% of our clinicians say they would recommend Lorenz to a colleague. But it’s not just the systems that set us apart, it’s the people. In recent feedback, clinicians shared: We have the best people… the best therapists and the best humans. — Senior Clinician I could make a mistake. — Practicum Student I knew I’d get through it because of the support. — Post-Master’s Fellow I have my life back. — New Hire Such a cohesive group. — Clinical Manager This is my therapy home… my forever job. — Senior Clinician Such an organized experience. — Trainee Clinicians participate in regular case consultation, Grand Rounds, and team meetings as part of our collaborative culture. We are a place where clinical rigor meets community impact, where therapists grow alongside others who are deeply committed to both their craft and each other. Key Responsibilities As a licensed clinician at Lorenz Clinic, you’ll be entrusted with providing psychotherapy that takes into account the full complexity of human development, relational dynamics, and systemic context. Your responsibilities will include: Deliver psychotherapy and diagnostic assessment within your clinical areas of competence Develop treatment approaches that reflect relational, cultural, and developmental understanding Engage in regular consultation, Grand Rounds, and reflective supervision with your peers Participate in a learning-focused, feedback-rich clinical community Maintain accurate, timely, and clinically meaningful documentation Uphold Lorenz’s commitment to integrity, humility, and systems-based care Other duties as assigned within a collaborative, clinician-led system Job Requirements We are seeking clinicians who combine clinical competence with humility, reflective capacity, systems thinking, and a commitment to ongoing development. The position requirements include but are not limited to: A master’s or doctoral degree in a mental health profession from an accredited academic program Full, independent, unrestricted licensure as a mental health professional in Minnesota (LP, LMFT, LICSW, or LPCC). Pre-licensed therapists such as LGSWs or LAMFTs should instead consider Lorenz's Post-Master’s Fellowship or Postdoctoral Fellowship positions unless licensure is imminent within four months. The ability to approach psychotherapy from systemic, relational, and developmental theoretical perspectives. At least 2 years providing clinical supervision (preferred) Formal training in child, couples, family therapy, relational / interpersonal, or contemporary psychodynamic psychotherapy (preferred) Note for Post-Graduate, Pre-Licensed Applicants: If you’re a recent graduate pursuing licensure and are excited about this kind of structured, scope-aligned counseling, we encourage you to apply. While this job posting is for fully and independently licensed psychotherapists, we occasionally fill separate, related roles through our Post-Master’s Fellowship Program. Pre-licensed professionals will be considered under a separate title and pay structure that reflects the training and supervision tailored to your stage of professional development. Simply indicate your licensure status in your application, and we’ll route your materials to the appropriate hiring stream. Benefits Full-time, independently licensed clinicians enjoy a robust benefits package that includes: Student Loan Repayment Paid Burnout Time Up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave regardless of gender Annual CEU allowance A 401k with 401k matching Medical insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Short- and long-term disability insurance Paid time off Paid holidays Paid service/volunteer time Paid continuing education release days Employee assistance program Flexible schedule Professional development assistance Healthcare Savings Account Mileage Reimbursement Flexible in-person or hybrid work options Case consultation w/ CEUs Time to rest, to grow, to reflect, and to stay inspired. Most clinicians earn about 100 hours per year of board-approved continuing education just from showing up to work. The clinic hosts an annual conference, monthly grand rounds, and four hours per month of case consultation with a specialist. While this is primarily an in-person role, most clinicians at Lorenz Clinic incorporate some hybrid work depending on licensure, program fit, and clinical needs. For an unabridged job description or more information about our benefits including student loan repayment program, please contact human resources. Compensation The compensation hiring range for this role is $75,000 - $125,000, which is dependent on candidate qualifications, program fit, chosen caseload, and competencies. The hiring range for master’s-level licensees is $75,000 - $106,250 per year, while the hiring range for licensed psychologists is $106,000 - $125,000 per year. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, benefits-eligible, W2 role. Candidates without independent licensure will be reviewed through our pre-licensed pathway and considered for related roles under the title Post-Master's Fellow. The compensation range listed above is for fully and independently licensed clinicians. Application Process Selection into our practice is competitive. We tend to hire under 5% because we’re focused on quality and coherence, which means you'll find yourself surrounded by a carefully curated team of inspiring colleagues. Cover letters are not required but do stand out. Application materials may be submitted through the clinic’s job board at Selection Criteria We look for psychotherapists who are relationally oriented, systemically minded, developmentally attuned, and work at interpersonal depth over time. Candidates are evaluated through multiple factors including clinical competence, ability to perform duties, potential to positively impact the field, and alignment with the clinic’s core values and mission. We evaluate credentials, mission alignment, theory-science-practice integration, and the capacity to thrive in a reflective, values-driven culture. Clinicians are welcome to apply to one or more clinical programs: Outpatient Psychotherapy. Systemic, relational work over longer term psychotherapy. Community-Based (In-Home). High intensity, trauma-focused treatment with kids and families. Intensive Outpatient Group Psychotherapy (IOP). Group- and family-based work within a higher level of care. Early Childhood Day Treatment. Trauma-focused group and family work with ages 3-6 using the Developmental Repair therapy model. Brief Intervention Clinic. Short-term, focused counseling for with models like SFBT, MI, Brief CBT, etc.. At times, clinicians may adopt a blended caseload across programs to extend development, depending on their stated learning goals and competence. Individual cases are assigned based on factors including prior preparation, goals, competencies, client suitability, and community need. The clinic has a strong referral base and waitlist, which allows for some client choice. Individual & Cultural Diversity Lorenz Clinic is committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce. We are an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law. We view Individual & Cultural Diversity as a professional competency area that applies to all professionals, requiring knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Candidates who monitor and apply knowledge of self and others as cultural beings in assessment, treatment, and consultation are especially encouraged to apply. Licensed psychologists should consider the Staff Psychologist role posted separately by Lorenz. Pre-licensed therapists such as LGSW or LAMFT/LMFTA should consider the Post-Master’s Fellowship position instead. Clinicians might find this posting beneficial if looking for positions using the following search terms: mental health therapist, licensed professional counselor, relational therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and other related terms. #J-18808-Ljbffr The Lorenz Clinic, LLC
