Senior Systems Security Engineer

Salary: $130,000 - 195,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• At least 4 years of information security experience in areas such as security operations, vulnerability management, security testing, system patching, log analysis, intrusion detection, or security device administration.
• Knowledge of RMF, Windows and Linux operating systems, STIGs, ACAS, HBSS, or related technologies.
• Ability to work independently, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution.
• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance or higher; ability to obtain or maintain a Top Secret clearance, with TS/SCI eligibility. The posting states that an active Secret clearance is required and TS is preferred.
• Preferred: a bachelors degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline; 8 or more years of IT security experience, or 12 years of related experience without a degree. A higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• CISSP certification is required as a preferred qualification.
• Expert knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, and experience with frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001.
• Experience as a DevSecOps Engineer or in a similar development, operations, and security role.
• Knowledge of Azure or AWS cloud technologies and architectures.
• Experience with secure coding practices and automated security testing tools.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, automation scripting, and configuration management tools.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex security topics clearly.

• Review software packages from the SAOC CI/CD pipeline for security, quality, compliance, and complete documentation.
• Verify required assurance artifacts are present, accurate, and linked in the C IDE/C IDE S environment.
• Recommend acceptance, conditional approval, or remediation for CI/CD software deliverables.
• Maintain bidirectional traceability across requirements, design, code, testing, and software assurance evidence.
• Work with DSO/DevSecOps engineers, pipeline owners, and developers to resolve findings, enforce fail-closed pipeline rules, and meet assurance criteria.
• Support automated and manual reviews of pipeline integrity, runtime protection, predictable behavior testing, and software assurance evidence.
• Ensure alignment with applicable NIST SP Rev 5 controls, the SAOC Program Protection Plan, Critical Information List expectations, and program CDRLs.
• Provide software assurance recommendations to leadership, pipeline gatekeepers, and the Authorizing Official as needed.
• Document review results according to SAER/SVAR reporting requirements.
• Contribute software assurance input to pipeline improvement meetings, tool enhancements, and workflow updates.
• Design and implement secure automation for development, testing, and production environments.
• Manage and maintain infrastructure security and monitoring systems, and develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments.
• Identify and remediate system vulnerabilities and security issues.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve engineering tools, systems, procedures, and data security.
• Create and maintain security documentation and stay informed about emerging threats and security solutions.
• Support incident response and problem management through containment actions and incident analysis.
