Job Description

The Field Sales Engineer – Fluid Connectors Division is responsible for supporting sales efforts in the Midwest region by providing technical expertise and solutions to prospective and existing Stäubli Fluid Connector clients. This role involves understanding customer needs, offering tailored solutions, and facilitating successful sales cycles.

This position works within the following Staubli Business sectors: Chem/Pharma, Alternative Fuels, Motorsports, and General Industrial.

The Field Sales Engineer is expected to collaborate closely with the Fluid Connector Division Sales team, Product Management team, and Sales Admin team, to ensure customer satisfaction and contribute to the division's growth.

Reports to:

Sales Manager: Industrial & Specialty Markets – US/CA

Responsibilities and Objectives:

Customer Engagement :

• Develop a weekly call plan targeting open quotes, ongoing projects, leads, and key accounts
• Organize plans using Outlook Calendar or as per company policy, ensuring visibility and structure
• Typical work schedule includes 1 to 2 days per week in a home office for follow-up and planning activities and 3 to 4 days per week in the field, with a target of two daily customer meetings, either in person or via Teams, with A/ B accounts and qualified leads.
• Prospect for new business opportunities, demonstrating persistence and efficiency in follow-ups

CRM Management :

• Record detailed call reports and prospecting notes as per company policy in the CRM system
• Maintain comprehensive records of all customer interactions and relevant sales activities

Sales Strategy :

• Implement the company's chosen sales strategy in day-to-day activity, and achieve success with this methodology

Reports & Administration :

• Submit weekly expense reports and monthly project reports adhering to company guidelines
• Manage expenses responsibly in alignment with company policies

Market Intelligence :

• Promptly report competitor activities and any significant market shifts to the Regional Manager
• Stay informed about industry trends and customer needs

Training & Meetings :

• Attend all mandatory sales/training meetings, exhibitions, and other company-related event

Professional Conduct :

Uphold professional communication standards, ensuring the company's welfare and reputation in every interaction

Adheres to all safety, quality and environmental standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of technical sales experience
• Customer-based project management experience
• Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Currently resides in the Midwest, preferably MI, but will consider candidates from OH or IN

Additional Information

Physical Requirements :

• Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry objects
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• Dexterity and accuracy as needed to operate equipment

Work schedule:

• Willingness to travel as required both domestically and internationally (up to 30%)
• This position will be remote, but candidate should be located ideally in Detroit, Michigan area.
• Approximately 3 to 4 days per week spent visiting prospective and existing customers, with 1 to 2 days per week dedicated to office-based work.
