Nursing Position

The purpose of this position is to provide nursing oversight, administrative oversight and lead work over nursing personnel of three or more FTEs on a continuous basis as well as clinical supervision of all nursing staff during a specific shift.

Duties of the position:

Direct Resident Care/Assessment and Charge Nurse Duties

• Provides and coordinates basic to skilled nursing care for residents, including admission and daily assessments, identifying needs, and developing/implementing care plans and physician referrals. Detects changes or abnormalities in health status and reports to the physician. Administers specialized and routine medical/nursing treatments and medications, including IV fluids and enteral nutritional support, and evaluates effectiveness. Documents current, accurate, and pertinent care information in the EHR via assessments or progress notes. Participates in quality assurance activities and work teams to establish best practice protocols. Coordinates care among disciplines (RN, LPN, C.N.A.) and monitors resident condition and safety. Performs Charge Nurse duties, including prioritizing assignments, delegating duties, and ensuring compliance with facility policies. Evaluates daily workload and prioritizes assignments with available staff. Is required to drive a State vehicle for off-site assessments or resident transport, as needed. Provides input and orientation for new employees

Medication Administration and Treatments Completed

• Performs prescribed, specialized treatments, including IV administration and venipuncture according to physician order, State, Federal, and VA regulations. Ensures safe and accurate medication administration. Documents findings and completion of tasks in the EHR via assessments, medication administration records, and treatment administration records.

Infection Control and Prevention

• Provide infection control, implement and use appropriate precautions based on infection, correct disposal of waste clean equipment, provide on the spot education to staff, residents or family/visitors when new precautions are implemented.

Training and Education of new nursing staff/work lead duties

• This position implements actions to maximize the productivity of assigned nursing personnel by mentoring, training, leadership, and providing feedback through immediate feedback and guidance to assure timely and proper care of residents. Trains and provides input to management on the direct care performance, documentation, attendance, and interpersonal skills of subordinates for the purpose of evaluation. Assures staff competencies are completed and submitted. Maintains updated skills, knowledge, and competencies necessary to the position through continuing education, clinical supervisory literature review, and participating in discipline and team development

Other Duties As Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
• Two (2) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
