General Manager

We are a privately owned, custom sheet metal fabrication company based in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, with approximately $5 million in annual revenue. We have built a strong reputation for precision work, responsive customer service, and reliable on-time delivery — and our customers notice the difference. We are now at a meaningful inflection point: ownership is ready to hand day-to-day operating authority to the right leader so the business can continue growing. This is not a caretaker role. We are looking for a General Manager who will treat this business like their own — someone who is energized by accountability, comfortable in a plant environment, and capable of building something. The Opportunity: This is a genuine General Manager role — not a plant manager title with limited authority. The incoming GM will have full P&L ownership and decision-making authority across commercial growth, factory operations, financial performance, and people leadership. You will have direct reports including a Production Manager, two Plant Supervisors, and a Controller, and you will be accountable for the performance of a total team of approximately 19. You will report directly to the Owner/President & Chairman of the Board, with a high degree of autonomy and clear performance expectations established from day one. What You'll Own: Drive revenue growth by owning customer relationships and actively supporting new business development and account acquisition Manage full P&L for a $5M manufacturing operation, with accountability for gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability Lead and develop a team of approximately 19 people, including a Production Manager, 2 Plant Supervisors, a Controller, and 15 factory workers Oversee all production scheduling, capacity planning, quality control, and on-time delivery performance Ensure full workplace safety compliance and champion a zero-incident culture throughout the facility Partner with ownership on capital investment decisions, strategic planning, and long-range business development Manage vendor and supply chain relationships to ensure material availability and cost competitiveness Recruit, onboard, and develop plant-level talent; administer all HR matters including performance management and disciplinary actions Provide weekly and monthly performance reporting to ownership, including financial results, operational KPIs, and forward-looking issues Identify and execute process improvements across operations, quality, and administration to improve throughput and profitability What We're Looking For: 7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, with a track record of measurable results At minimum 3 years in a General Manager, Plant Manager, or equivalent role with direct P&L accountability Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, metal stamping, custom metal fabrication, or job-shop manufacturing strongly preferred Demonstrated success growing revenue or expanding the customer base in a small-to-mid-size manufacturing environment Strong financial literacy — comfortable reading, acting on, and presenting P&L statements, job costing reports, and cash flow summaries Proven ability to lead and motivate a factory workforce with credibility, fairness, and high expectations Excellent communication and relationship-building skills — with customers, employees, vendors, and ownership alike Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered #J-18808-Ljbffr
