Sr. Field Service Technician

This position reports to: Service Manager Responsibilities In this role, you will execute service work as per work instructions and ABB quality and safety guidelines. You will deliver quality customer service, executing service work as per customer order and expectation, ensuring customer retention by effectively communicating the service work timeline and expectations. Work on-site with customers to identify opportunities for operational improvement and eliminate pain points. Perform field service tasks, including identifying technical issues and conducting on-site troubleshooting within certified areas. Execute installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, extensions, upgrades, retrofits, end‑of‑life services, and replacements. Support the certification process of Associate Field Service Technicians and Field Service Technicians. Coach technicians, supervise complex site activities, and act as trainers for team members and customers. Prepare material lists for service activities and ensure all materials, parts, and equipment meet quality standards and are available. Proactively identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions. Contribute to customer satisfaction by building and maintaining positive relationships. Identify potential new sales opportunities, address customer needs, and communicate them internally. Identify opportunities for product and quality improvements and provide recommendations to management for improving operations and customer service. Follow safety protocols, maintain safe work and environmental practices, and report unsafe practices and incidents. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 4+ years’ experience servicing critical power equipment, or Associate’s Degree in electrical technology with 6+ years’ experience, or High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work and/or military experience (8+ years) servicing critical power equipment. Advanced level ability to interact and communicate (written and verbal) with varying levels within the organization. Collaborates well with others. Advanced level ability to use Microsoft Office products. Moderate ability to project‑manage using MS Project or Excel. Advanced ability to write test plans and reports detailing test results. Advanced ability to stay organized and meet deadlines on administrative duties. Works with a sense of urgency and ownership, until the job is complete.
