ReGenesis Health Care is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as our Senior Medical Director - Primary Care in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

This is an opportunity for a physician who wants to combine executive clinical leadership with meaningful patient care . The Senior Medical Director will provide leadership to our primary care providers, advance quality and clinical performance, mentor physicians and advanced practice providers, and partner with executive leadership on the continued growth and development of ReGenesis Health Care.

Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) , the Senior Medical Director will help shape clinical strategy while maintaining an active clinical practice.

As a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) , ReGenesis Health Care provides comprehensive, integrated healthcare to communities throughout Upstate South Carolina.

• Base Salary: $225,000-$250,000 annually

About the Role

The Senior Medical Director provides clinical and strategic leadership for ReGenesis Health Care's primary care services while maintaining an active clinical practice.

This physician leader will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and other organizational leaders to strengthen clinical quality, provider performance, patient outcomes, operational effectiveness, and access to care.

The Senior Medical Director will also play an important role in developing physicians and advanced practice providers, standardizing clinical best practices, supporting recruitment and retention, and advancing population health and value-based care initiatives.
Key Leadership Responsibilities

As Senior Medical Director, you will:

• Provide physician leadership for Family Medicine and Pediatric clinical services .
• Supervise, mentor, coach, and support physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Partner with the Chief Medical Officer on clinical strategy, provider engagement, recruitment, retention, and organizational initiatives.
• Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Lead and support quality improvement initiatives related to HEDIS, UDS, population health, patient outcomes, and regulatory requirements .
• Monitor clinical quality and performance data and work with providers to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Promote evidence-based medicine and consistent clinical standards across practice locations.
• Support provider onboarding, professional development, and performance improvement.
• Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to improve patient access, workflows, efficiency, and care delivery.
• Support the Addiction Medicine Medical Director and collaborate on continued program development.
• Participate in strategic planning and clinical program development.
• Help identify opportunities to expand services and improve access to care throughout the communities we serve.
• Serve as a physician leader and clinical resource throughout the organization.

Clinical Responsibilities

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Senior Medical Director will maintain an active clinical practice and will:

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based primary care within the physician's scope of practice.
• Maintain an appropriate patient panel and clinical schedule.
• Meet established clinical productivity, quality, documentation, and patient experience expectations.
• Coordinate care with behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, specialty, and other healthcare services.
• Model excellent clinical practice and patient-centered care for the provider team.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine ( MD ) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine ( DO ).
• Completion of an accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics .
• Board certification or board eligibility in the physician's applicable specialty.
• Active, unrestricted South Carolina medical license or ability to obtain South Carolina licensure.
• Minimum of five (5) years of physician leadership experience in a role such as:

  • Associate Medical Director
  • Clinical Director
  • Department Chair
  • Service Line Leader
  • Comparable physician leadership position
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and engage physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Strong understanding of clinical quality improvement and evidence-based care.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to improving healthcare access and outcomes for underserved populations.
