About the Opportunity

A well-established Houston CPA firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its team. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting a portfolio of small and mid-sized business clients with their ongoing bookkeeping and accounting needs.

The ideal candidate is an experienced bookkeeping professional who is highly proficient in QuickBooks , strong with account reconciliations, and comfortable managing multiple client accounts. Prior experience working in a CPA firm, public accounting environment, or professional services firm is highly preferred.

A college degree is not required . Relevant hands-on experience, reliability, accuracy, and strong QuickBooks skills are most important.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping activities for approximately 15–20 client accounts

• Review and maintain client QuickBooks files

• Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations

• Review account activity and identify discrepancies or necessary adjustments

• Assist with month-end bookkeeping and financial statement preparation

• Perform limited payroll-related work and prepare payroll reports

• Coordinate with third-party payroll providers such as ADP when needed

• Communicate directly with select clients regarding bookkeeping questions and required information

• Maintain organized and accurate client accounting records

• Work closely with CPAs and other members of the firm’s professional team

• Assist with additional bookkeeping and accounting projects as needed

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience

• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks

• Solid account reconciliation experience

• Good understanding of general accounting and bookkeeping principles

• Ability to independently manage multiple client accounts and deadlines

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Professional written and verbal communication skills

• Comfortable communicating directly with clients

• Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively in a small-team environment

• Prior CPA firm or public accounting experience is highly preferred

• Payroll and ADP experience is a plus

• College degree is welcome but not required
